Memorial Biography

Debra "Debbie "Jackson was born on December 23, 1958, in New York City to the proud parents of Robert and Virginia Byrd. Debra attended elementary school in the Bronx, NY and attended Junior and High Schools in Teaneck, NJ. After graduating from high school, Debra received her certifications for Court Reporter Stenographer and Welding and made patents for several small businesses. Debra met and married her first husband Lawrence Callis Sr. in 1982 and from this union her one and only "beloved" son Lawrence Callis Jr. was born. After Debra divorced her first husband she and her young son Lawrence moved to Willingboro, NJ with her parents. Debra joined the Air Force reserved from 1989 until 1995. During that time she met and married her second husband Andre Jackson in 1991 and moved to Dover, DE. Debra moved back to Willingboro, NJ after her second marriage dissolved. Debra attended Mt Olive Baptist Church in Hackensack, NJ and attended and joined Tabernacle Baptist Church in Burlington, NJ. Debra loved the "Lord" in spite of her many worldly challenges and she made peace and had a relationship with him prior to her passing peacefully in her sleep on February 15, 2021. Debra met and developed a special friendship with two co-workers, Valerie Costen and Doris Jones , when she was working for the State Farm Insurance Company in Springfield, PA. in 2017. Debra was funny, witty, adventurous and the life of the party but she also had a very sensitive side and compassion when it came to family. Debra loved and cherished her mother "Virginia " until her passing in March 2018, and she deeply loved her only son Lawrence, her grandchildren Dominique, Jazara, Nehemiah and great niece Christyonna unconditionally. Debra knew family loved and supported her through her many challenges and that "God "loved her more. Debra is survived by her only "beloved" son Lawrence Callis Jr., of Florida, three grandchildren, Dominique Saunders-Nearn of New Jersey, Jazara and Nehemiah of Florida, two Aunts Lena Laverne Simons-Clyde of New York, Alice Hunt Lindsey of Washington, DC, Sister -in-law Ona Gallop of New Jersey, Nephew Robert Gallop of Pennsylvania, Niece Chiniqua Garcia (Jose) of Arizona, two great nieces Endygo McCall and Christyonna Gallop of Pennsylvania, two special cousins Ron Robinson and Cheryl Lyons-Robinson of New Jersey, two special friends Valerie Costen of Delaware and Doris Jones of Pennsylvania and a host of cousins and friends. The Family will truly miss her and we "all" loved her very much. Continue To Sleep In Restful Peace With God Debra... A special thank you to Joslyn Pena for notifying Cheryl Lyons-Robinson of the death of Debbie. Otherwise the family would have never been aware of her death.
